Tandem for sale!
Age makes it necessary to sell our beloved Erickson tandem travel bike. This was hand-built in 2006 by legendary frame and tandem builder Glenn Erickson in Seattle. It was one of the last tandems that Glenn made (he died in 2024 after a long illness). It is his “Signature” model, which features gorgeous fillet brazed, hand ground steel joints, and premium paint. It has stainless steel S&S couplers for travel and fits into two airline-legal hard cases. Full specs are listed below.
This bike has taken us on many adventures in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe. Despite its age, it’s ready to take you on many more! Major upgrades over the years include a Wound Up carbon fork, TRP Spyre disk brakes, Rock Shox rear seat post, complete drive train replacement and new wheels in 2020. As with any well-used travel bike it has several cosmetic scrapes and scratches.
Glenn was famous for the performance of his bikes as well as the aesthetics he brought to the custom bike scene. This bike rides like a dream and is a real treat for the eyes. Glenn’s design theory was that the bike should fit, handle and perform like a single bike for both captain and stoker. On most tandems the stoker is crammed into a too-short space with her/his face planted in the captain’s back. Glenn alleviated that problem by lengthening the stoker’s cabin by about 4 inches. So, while it makes the wheelbase significantly longer, it takes nothing away from the handling and gives a much more enjoyable experience for the stoker.
The asking price for this bike, with the S&S travel cases, is $4000 plus shipping (~$300 est.). In lieu of shipping charges, I will deliver the bike to any location in New Mexico, Eastern Arizona, Southern Colorado, and maybe West Texas. You will only need to pay my travel expenses.
